Uttar Pradesh board declared results for Class 10 and Class 12 examinations were declared at 12.30pm on June 9, 2017.Set up in 1921, the UP board calls itself the biggest board examination body in the world and has about 22,000 affiliated schools to back the claim.It conducted its first examination in 1923. This year , more than 60 lakh students were waiting eagerly to see their marks. 3404571 students have appeared for the UP Board Class 10th exam and 2624681 students took the Class 12th inter exam this year.
The percentage of students in Uttar Pradesh who cleared the UP Board Class 10 and Class 12 examinations witnessed a decline as compared to last year which is a result of the strict measures deployed by authorities to check unfair means.This year, 81.18% students cleared the Class 10 or high school exams and 82.62% examinees were declared successful in Class 12 or intermediate which opposed the trend that was seen in 2016.In 2016, the overall pass percentage in high school exams was registered at 87.66 which was 3.92 points more than the previous year. In intermediate, 87.99% students passed in 2016 or 0.84% less than in 2015.This year, 81.18% students cleared the Class 10 or high school exams and 82.62% examinees were declared successful in Class 12 or intermediate.Girls performed better than boys in both Class 10 and 12 board exams. Tejaswi Devi of Fatehpur district has topped in class 10 exams, scoring 95.83 per cent, while Priyanshi Tewari of these same district topped the Class 12 board exam with 96.20 per cent.
The board bucked the trend this time around as only a fraction of the students dropped out of the examinations. As per reports, a total of 26,56,319 students had signed up for the examinations this year for the Class 12 board exams, of which only 2,04,845 students did not appear for all the papers.In some districts, mass copying was reported due to which 69 exams of various subjects were cancelled and 91 schools were debarred from holding the board exams for the next five years.However, due to strict vigilance following cases of cheating in the previous years, an unexpected 5,94,503 candidates left the exams midway and 1,862 examinees were caught copying.This year, the board also provided coded answer sheets in 31 districts of the state that were identified as sensitive in order to check cheating during the exams.
