CBSE 10th Board Exams to be Re-Introduced in 2018

The Central Board of Secondary Education is all set to re-introduce the 10th board examinations with the session 2017-18 onwards.

Prakash Javadekar, the Education Minister, last year signalled at the re-launch of the boards in a casual talk with the journalists. The Continuous Comprehensive Education (CCE) method that was introduced by the Kapil Sibbal-led Ministry of HRD was seen as discriminating between the CBSE students and those from the state boards.

The CBSE has now declared an official notification to re-introduce the 10th board examination scheduled for March. In its notification, the marking scheme was released for the following 5 subjects:

  • English (communications)
  • English (language and literature)
  • Mathematics
  • Science
  • Social Science

CBSE chairman Rajesh Chaturvedi was quoted saying about the systematic change last year, “We will not be able to do it in 2017 as time is short. But we will certainly like to go ahead with it from 2018 as it has become important in the context of improving quality. In any case, the state boards are continuing with the board exams.”

Students are required to visit the official website of the CBSE to check the notification and go through the marking scheme. The date sheet is also expected to be released soon.
